This grant was made possible by the “Help People Affected by Superstorm Sandy” Gift That Gives More [tm] featured at The Hunger Site and other GreaterGood Network websites.
CFBNJ is currently providing over 100,000 lbs of food per day to individuals and families displaced by the storm and subsequent flooding. Despite losing power at their facilities for several days, the food bank continued to send truckloads of ready-to- eat meals and water to the Office of Emergency Management and shelters in Atlantic, Ocean, Somerset, Passaic, Essex, Middlesex, Hudson, Burlington, Monmouth, Bergen, and Cape May counties. They also gave blankets have to those displaced by flooding in Moonachie and Little Ferry.
CFBNJ is a member of Feeding America’s national network of food banks. Annually it provides close to 40 million pounds of food to help feed 900,000 people in need in eighteen of New Jersey's twenty-one counties.
