Food banks transition to helping neighbors after the flood

"This gift comes at critical time as we position ourselves to best respond to the needs of our neighbors most impacted by the flood," wrote Natasha R. Thompson, President and CEO of Food Bank of Southern Tier, upon the receipt of a grant from GreaterGood.org.

Although Hurricane Irene blew through the Northeast at the beginning of September, the demands on local food banks and other aid agencies continues to be higher than normal. "We are now transitioning our suppport to help families as they return home and our member agency network as they recover and meet local needs," noted Rich Bank, Food Bank Director of CEO/Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank, another organization which received a GreaterGood.org donation to help with their efforts.

GreaterGood.org's support of Southern Tier and Weinberg was made possible by The Hunger Site's Gifts That Give More [tm] program.
