Mercy Corps' field team in Pakistan is concentrating on providing clean water
to 20,000 people, as well as staple foods and clean-up tools to hundreds
of affected families following devastating floods in the region. Previous work in Pakistan's heavily affected
Swat Valley included helping families reestablish themselves after they fled last year's fighting
between militants and government forces.
The current floods in the region may displace as many as four million people, and reports suggest that as many as 1,600 were killed by the flooding.
A longtime charitable partner of GreaterGood.org, Mercy Corps provides emergency relief as well as the tools to combat hunger and poverty in more than 40 countries around the world. GreaterGood.org has directed its initial donations to help flood victims in Pakistan to Mercy Corps.
