In 2011, the Food Project will celebrate its 20th summer of youth development, sustainable agriculture, and community programs.
The innovative "pea patch" program expects to welcome more than 140 young participants who will work the land to grow and harvest food in the Boston, MA, region. They also will run affordably priced farmers’ markets and help install raised bed gardens in the backyards of low-income neighborhoods.
With a newly renovated greenhouse to be added soon, The Food Project hopes to give local residents year-round opportunities to grow and harvest healthy food, said executive director Margaret Williams.
