The Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax will stop price gouging at the gas pump, and provide rebates for consumers.

The price of oil per barrel is well below recent records1. However, gas prices remain high because oil and gas companies are gouging consumers, taking advantage of the war in Ukraine to turn a profit.

The Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax2, aims to eliminate this kind of corporate profiteering. This bill will stop price gouging at the gas pump by requiring oil and gas companies to share their monumental profits with consumers3.

In the form of rebates to hardworking Americans4, the benefits of this bill could help make life easier for millions who are struggling under the weight of rising inflation and economic pressures related to the war in Ukraine5.

There is no reason a major news event should be followed by gas shortages and price spikes. Americans need to be protected from this type of corporate greed.

Sign the petition and help us tell Congress to eliminate price gouging at the pumps by passing the The Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax.

The Petition:

To Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse and Rep. Ro Khanna,

The price of oil per barrel is well below recent records. The record high was set in June 2008 when oil topped over $140 per barrel. The 2022 high in crude oil prices never topped the record set in 2008, yet gas prices have far exceeded price levels set the same year.

Gas prices remain high because oil and gas companies are gouging consumers, taking advantage of the war in Ukraine to turn a profit.

There is no reason a major news event should be followed by gas shortages and price spikes. Americans need to be protected from this type of corporate greed. That's why I support your efforts to pass The Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax.

In the form of rebates to hardworking Americans, the benefits of this bill could help make life easier for millions who are struggling under the weight of rising inflation and economic pressure.

The people have spoken, and we support your continued efforts to pass The Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax for the sake of all Americans.

Sincerely,
