Goal: 20,000 Progress: 10,213
Sponsored by: The Veterans Site

Even decades after war, veterans can suffer the extreme mental and physical consequences. Agent Orange was a warfare herbicidal weapon the US government used during Vietnam in order to kill vegetation and force guerillas out of hiding. But the chemical has had other detrimental effects — it's killed humans, caused birth defects, and continues to cause health problems for those who were exposed to it.

It has been the source of cancer, heart disease, and other conditions for many veterans; yet proposed legislation aims to block their insurance coverage. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs Patty Murray told President Obama, "Vietnam veterans have paid enough for that war. They should not end up paying for our debt."

Veterans shouldn't have to wait for coverage for conditions sustained during service. Sign the petition thanking Patty Murray for continuing to fight on behalf of our Vietnam veterans.

Dear Patty Murray,

I applaud your efforts in speaking out for veterans who have been exposed to the deadly chemical Agent Orange.

During the Vietnam War, Agent Orange was used to kill the vegetation that was providing shelter and hiding areas for the enemy, as well as force civilians into urban environments. But Agent Orange has had an even more devastating effect — many Vietnam veterans now suffer from cancers, heart disease, blood borne diseases, and more.

What's worse is that a proposed amendment seeks to bar them from being able to receive insurance coverage for these conditions.

We cannot expose our dedicated service members to substances like Agent Orange and then refuse to provide them with the care needed to combat its effects.

Thank you for your continued dedication to our veterans. Please continue to fight for our Vietnam vets whose lives have been negatively affected by Agent Orange.

Thanks for your time.

Jan 23, 2018 Charles Hranek This is inexcusable that Vietnam Veterans Haven’t been compensated yet for this atrocious Chemical. Now to add to the list every soldier that has fought in Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan or Iraq is now fighting for medical problems due to Open Air Burn Pits.
Jan 23, 2018 (Name not displayed) My uncle recently passed away because of Agent Orange. He served as a Marine in Viet Nam. He suffered several years with cancer until he finally passed away in November. This should have addressed decades ago.
